Oppenheimer, is part biopic, part thriller and tells the story of ‘the father of the atomic bomb,’ J. Robert Oppenheimer, whose work at the Manhattan Project’s Los Alamos Laboratory led to the invention of the first nuclear weapons during World War II. The new nuclear bombs, designed to end the Second World War, were later used in devastating attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan on August 6 and August 9, 1945 respectively. The two bombs killed over 100,000 people and levelled both cities to the ground.
Christopher Nolan – directors said “Like it or not, J. Robert Oppenheimer is the most important person who ever lived. He made the world that we live in for better or for worse. His story has to be seen to be believed,” “His story is both dream and nightmare.”
Oppenheimer the movie is an adaptation of the book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Martin Sherwin and Kai Bird. “
