Sadly we have had to postpone this movie. It seems Omnicom has meant our sales are low and people are not keen to go out.
If you were among the few who purchased tickets we will be sorting a refund this week.
No postponement date as yet.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

Every year the Heretaunga Womens Centre celebrates International Womens day on the 8th March with a movie.

This years movie is the incredible Mothers of the Revolution, which  tells the story of one of the longest protests in history, when between 1981 and 2000, thousands of women from around the world came together and lived in tents  at Greenham Common in the UK to take a committed stand against nuclear proliferation. Minimised by the media, the film reveals the women as the Cold War heroes they were, who persisted in the face of arrests, condemnation and scorn, took on a superpower, and changed the world.

At its heart, Mothers of the Revolution is a Cold War drama-thriller, a tale filled with the tension of a spy novel, with furtive trips behind the Iron Curtain into Soviet Russia, infiltrations of top secret military bases, and messages passed under cover of darkness.

It’s also a story of love – love of family, of children, and of each other – and of bitter conflicts that pitted mother against son, and husband against wife.

Most importantly, it’s a story of enduring morality, sacrifices, and a commitment to a higher cause.

While NZ remains  in The traffic lights (COVID-19 Protection Framework) Red or orange,  vaccination passes will be needed to attend this movie.

NZ has moved to the red level of the Covid Protection Framework (Traffic Light system). Check out what this means for you.
At this time the Heretaunga Women’s Centre will continue to remain open. All women regardless of their vaccination status are welcome to visit the Centre.
Given that our we are likely to be at Red for some weeks, we are already planning for many of our Term 1 Programme activities that start from 14 February to be delivered online. We have a number of exciting activities on offer this term and we are pleased to still be able to bring these to you in the comfort of your home! Over the next few days we will be sending out our Term 1 programme timetable.
Whilst we remain at Red, our counselling and SuperGrans Heretaunga mentoring sessions will be delivered online or by phone. We will be in touch with all clients directly over the next couple of days to make arrangements that suit you.
Unfortunately, under Red we won’t be hiring out any of our rooms, and our kindness shelf and clothing rack will not be available. We will be unable to provide tea and coffee, or have our usual shared lunches, and we are also unable to take any donated items during this time.
The Centre itself will remain open and you are welcome to come in if you need support, advice or urgent counselling or want to use our public toilet facilities. Or feel free to give us a call on 06 878 5401 or send an email to admin@hwc.nz
If you do pop into the Centre we have the following requirements in place:
• Please use our QR Code or sign in on entry.
• 1 metre distancing is to be maintained at all times.
• Masks must be worn at all times.
• There is a limit of one person at a time in our public toilet facilities.
• Basic hygiene practices are to be maintained.
Take care and stay safe everyone. Kia kaha.

We are very excited that from 11:59pm tonight those of us outside of the Auckland region, will move to Delta Level 2.  This means that the Heretaunga Women’s Centre will be open again from tomorrow, Wednesday 8 September, but there will be some rules and restrictions in place:

You must sign in to be able to come into the Centre.  You can do this either by scanning the QR Code that is on our front door and also in the reception area; or sign the record keeping sign in sheet in the entrance way.

Masks must be worn at all times.

Physical distancing of two metres must be maintained at all times.

While you are in the Centre please continue to adhere to safe hygiene practices, which include good hand washing, the use of hand sanitiser that will be made available, and the disposal of tissues etc. in rubbish bins.

No more than 50 people will be permitted to be inside the Centre at any one time.

Counselling appointments have been going ahead during the lockdown period remotely, by phone and online platforms and will resume face to face at the Centre from tomorrow.  If you would prefer your counselling appointments continue remotely during Delta Level 2 please let us know and we will make arrangements for you to continue to be supported by phone/online.

Our Term 3 activities, groups, workshops and therapies will continue at the Centre from Monday 13 September, provided we are able to ensure safe hygiene practices and physical distancing.  We will get in touch with anyone registered for activities that are unable to go ahead under Delta Level 2.

At Delta Level 2 our kindness shelf and clothing rack will unfortunately be unavailable.  However, hopefully this is a short term measure just for the next week or so.

If you have any questions or are registered for a course or appointment and are not sure if it will be going ahead, please feel free to get in touch with us on
